Laura, your poems make me stop and think. What is the black dog and SHOULD he be let in? What are the black dogs in my life? Are they dangerous or will they bring excitement and joy?

NO! no!! If the big black dog is in your dream, don't open the door. I know this one. The dog in the dream is BAD.
